some techno with that waterfall perhaps?


This is a loud speaker in Shanghai's People's Park.

Is nature better natural? A debatable point in China where loud speakers blare out music in parks, nature reserves and scenic landmarks. Added value? Or noise pollution? Unspoilt nature or just boring countryside in need of livening up? All a matter of perspective...

Hmm. I'd have to say better without. But what prompts them to put speakers up in the first place? Some means of ensuring the populace has less time and (mental and physical) space to come up with non-conformist ideas? If so, is that still the regime's plan, or have people just got used to it over the years and now expect their parks to come with music and (presumably) a little propaganda?
